Prepare

  • Help your immigrant friend get legal representation. Enter your zip code at Immigration Advocates Network or ImmigrationLawHelp.
  • Give immigrant friends your phone number if you are willing to have them call you for help when rapid response is needed. 
  • Offer to keep a copy of your immigrant friend’s important documents
  • Make a video recording of the interaction.
  • Be silent and do NOT interfere, but you do have the right to make the recording.
  • Film openly, not trying to hide it.
  • Try to include the officers’ names and badge numbers and show the location where the interaction is occurring.
  • Don’t reveal ANY information about your immigrant friend. You are not required to speak.

Be available to go along with an immigrant friend to an ICE check-in or to an immigration hearing.

  • Pray. Attend a prayer vigil. Organize a prayer vigil.
  • Contact government officials, especially local ones.
  • Provide love, hospitality, food, clothing, toiletries and fellowship.
